Artist Statement
I chose the story ‘Rokuro-Kubi’ because it is terrifying and funny. It has all the ingredients of a classic ghost story… night, a full moon, the lone traveller, the house in the woods, headless bodies, deception and murder. My print makes visible the entwined communication of the five ghosts, their hair becoming a living conduit, a great knot of evil intent.

「ろくろ首」を選んだのは、それが恐ろしくもおかしな物語だからだ。夜、満月、ひとりきりの旅人、森の中の家、首のない死体、欺き、殺人……この物語には古典的な怪談のすべての要素が備わっている。私の版画は、5人の幽霊の絡み合ったコミュニケーション、彼らの髪の毛が生きた導管となり、邪悪な計画の大きな結び目となる様子を表現している。
