Artist Statement
“This atmosphere is not of our human period: it is enormously old… It is not made of air at all, but of ghost.” – Hearn. Horai mirrors Hy Breasal, an island off the west coast of Ireland, from which the fog lifts one day in every seven years to reveal the shimmering form of a floating world.
アーティストの声明
「この大気は私たち人類の時代のものではなく、とてつもなく古いもの……。それは空気でできているのではなく、幽霊(ゴースト)でできているのだ。」蓬莱は、アイルランド西海岸沖にあるとされる幻の島、ハイ・ブレサル(ハイ・ブラジル)に似ている。その島は7年に一度、霧が晴れたときに現れ、浮き世の姿をかすかに映し出すという。
