Artist Statement
Preserving my interest in the natural and scientific world, the story of the ants drew my interest in how the microcosm of ants is reflected in human nature. Hearn gives them a special place in evolutionary theory, lauding their horticultural, agricultural and social ingenuity.

ハーンによるアリの物語に惹かれたのは、自然と科学の世界だけでなく、アリたちの小宇宙が人間の性質にどのように映し出されているのかに興味を持ったからだ。ハーンは進化論のなかでアリに特別な位置付けをし、かれらの園芸や農業や社会生活における創意工夫を称賛している。
