Ed Miliano lives and works in Dublin, Ireland. He was born in New York, and studied at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. Ed works as a painter and printmaker but also makes sculpture both from bronze and found objects. Past projects include ‘Diary’ when he painted the view from his studio window every day for more than a year. Ed studied Mokuhanga printmaking in Japan and regularly shows his print work and is a member of Graphic Studio Dublin. He showed a major new work called ‘Nothing Gold Can Stay’ at the Royal Hibernian Academy in 2022 which consisted of 100 separate panels painted in oil and incorporating gold leaf. It took over a year to complete. In 2017, Ed spent seven weeks at the Ballinglen Foundation where he created a new body of work and became a fellow. He recently completed a 7 metre painting for Joseph Walsh Studios in Cork which he painted in situ. It is acrylic with applied collage and the largest work Ed has ever made and it was so large it required scaffolding. Ed stayed in Kinsale for about six weeks to complete the work and was in effect an artist-in-residence at the workshop.
