ラフカディオ・ハーンの「食人鬼」に寄せて
Artist Statement
The story ‘Jikininki’ is very visually inspiring. The concept of Anjitsu appeals to one of my themes of ephemeral existence. ‘Jikininki’ is chilling despite its fantastical character. Like with so many of the stories in Kwaidan, the horror comes mainly from things not being as you might expect them to be, which forces a questioning of sanity.

「食人鬼」は、視覚的にとても刺激的な物語だ。庵室(あんじつ)の概念は、私のテーマのひとつである「儚い存在」に訴えかけてくる。「食人鬼」は幻想的な作風である一方で、ぞっとする作品でもある。『怪談』の多くの物語と同様に、この作品の恐ろしさは主に、正気を疑わせるような、予想外の物事からもたらされている。
