Artist Statement
Making woodcuts, considering the fate of two woodcutters is intriguing. I am not too old but realize I would qualify as the older of the two, closer to the cold terminal breath. The younger escapes the cold of the winter and the deadly air that comes with the beauty of the snow by virtue of his youth and attractiveness, it is merely an extension that would not change fate forever.

２人の木こり の運命を考えながら木版画を作るというのは面白いものである。私はそれほど年を取っているわけではないが、年齢では冷たい最後の息を引き取る年上の木こりの方に近い。若い方の木こりは、その若さと魅力で、冬の寒さから、そして、美しい雪と共に吹く凍える空気から逃れる。だが、それは一時的な延命に過ぎず、運命を変えることは永遠にありえないのだ。
