Artist Statement
The cherry tree in which the old man’s spirit resides blooms for only one day on January 16, the day his life was transferred. The black trunk powerfully undulates and the powdery snow and cherry petals flutter behind it. I aimed to express this scenery not only as beautiful but also as mad, melancholy and ephemeral.

老人の魂が宿った桜は、彼の命が移された1月16日に1日だけ咲く。力強くうねる黒い幹、そしてその奥で舞う粉雪と桜の花びら。この景色を美しいだけでなく、狂気と哀愁のある儚いものとして表現した。
